Give me a scoop of kindness

Don't whip me please!

I love myself a lot, but often love myself like a coach. “Give up” is never a word in my dictionary, and people told me I have immense grit that drives me to learn above and beyond. But sometimes, it can also push me out of desired difficulty.

As I live slowly, letting go of all the external expectations around me, I’m able to treat myself with lots of kindness.

I ask myself, "What do you need now? What do you want to do at this moment?"

I remind myself. “Future Esther will handle it. Don't worry about this now.”

I calm myself. “Everything can wait. Your friend can wait. A job can wait. Future partners can wait. You just need to be present and live now.”

I assure myself. “It's okay that you want this so much. Life is very long, and there is always a chance for you. Stay happy and healthy so you can move toward the future you like.”

I forgive myself. “You cannot change the past, and yes, it might be a mistake. But I forgive you, and you can forgive others.”

I free myself. “You have no idea what it's going to be like in the future. But you can do whatever you like now.”

I entertain myself. “If you have to love this person for the rest of your life, you still have a long time to cry later. Can I sleep for a bit now?”

And then I hug myself like hugging a stupid puppy.
